That is the job, and it is harder to do consistently than it sounds. Support is agreed with each person in their own home, with family or an advocate involved whenever they want that. It can cover personal care, help with medication, meals and drinks, housework and laundry, shopping and errands, getting to appointments, and company for people who are on their own most of the week. We review the arrangement when circumstances change rather than at arbitrary intervals. We keep the team around each person small and we introduce new staff properly rather than sending somebody unannounced. Our office is contactable during the day and there is somebody on call outside those hours, because problems in home care rarely arrange themselves around working time. We are clear about our limits too. If somebody needs more than we can safely provide we will say so and help them find who can.
