About Aventus Care
Aventus Care supports adults in their own homes in Northampton and the surrounding area. Most of the people we work with are younger adults, and our experience covers learning disabilities and autism, physical disabilities, and visual and hearing impairment. We are clear about what our support is for. It should widen somebody's life rather than manage it. In practice that means asking how a person wants things done and then doing it that way, even when another way would be quicker for us. Support might cover personal care, medication and health appointments, but a great deal of it is about ordinary independence: cooking, shopping, money, travel, work or college, keeping in touch with people, and getting out to do the things anyone else would do. Consistency is central to this work, so we keep support teams small, introduce new staff properly, and do not send unfamiliar people at short notice. Where someone communicates in their own way, whether through speech, signs, symbols or behaviour, learning it is part of the job, and we record what we learn so the whole team responds alike. We involve families, advocates and other professionals as much as the person wants and no more. Our staff are checked, trained and supervised. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we are glad to discuss how we would approach a particular situation.
