About Assisted Living Care
Assisted Living Care supports people in their own homes in Northampton and the surrounding area. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience includes learning disabilities and autism as well as mental health needs. Everything starts with a visit at home, because what somebody needs is obvious in their own kitchen and rarely obvious on a form. We want to know what the person manages perfectly well without us, where help would genuinely make a difference, and who else is already involved. From that we agree a plan together: it might be one call a day for personal care and medication, or support at several points for meals, company, housework and getting out. Where we support somebody with a learning disability or with mental health needs, we aim to widen what they can do rather than take it over. That often means spending longer alongside a person while they cook or manage an errand than it would take to do it for them, which is the right way round even when it is slower. Consistency carries a lot of weight in this work, so we keep teams small and local and introduce new carers properly rather than sending strangers at short notice. Our staff are checked, trained and supervised. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall, and we are glad to talk through how we would approach a particular situation.
