We are Verity Healthcare Waltham Forest, a home care agency supporting people in their own homes across the borough. We work with adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults and people managing a mental health condition. The people we support are adults with lives to lead rather than conditions to be managed, and support works best when it clears obstacles instead of taking over. So we start from what somebody is trying to do, and we give help where it is wanted rather than everywhere it might be possible. Predictability matters a great deal in this work. Saying what will happen and when, and then being right about it, does more than reassurance. We adapt how we communicate to the person rather than expecting them to adapt to us, and we keep the same workers with the same people wherever the rota allows, because somebody who has to explain themselves again each week is not being supported properly. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than leave a family to find it elsewhere. We know what the inspection identified, there is work in hand on it, and we are willing to go through the detail with anyone considering support from us.
