About Glimmer of Hope Care Services
Glimmer of Hope provides care in people's own homes across Pontefract and the Wakefield district. We support older people and younger adults, people living with dementia or a mental health condition, and people with a physical disability. Most people who contact us are at a point where things have become harder than they were, but nowhere near the point of wanting to leave home. That is exactly the gap we work in. We look at what has got difficult, agree what help would actually shift it, and leave everything else alone. Independence is not preserved by doing things for people who can still do them themselves. Our visits take in personal care, support with medication, meals and drinks, help with the housework and shopping, and support to get out and about. Where somebody mainly needs company and a steady routine, we will say so honestly rather than dressing it up as something more clinical. We try hard to send the same carers to the same households. It matters for dignity, and it matters practically, because a carer who knows somebody well spots a change days before a stranger would. The Care Quality Commission has not yet issued an overall rating for us. We welcome questions about how we recruit, train and supervise, and about what happens when a family raises a concern.
