About Supported Housing Service
Our supported housing team in Tameside works with younger adults living with mental ill health, providing support to people in their own homes in Hyde and the surrounding area. Supported housing works because the home belongs to the person. We are there to help with the things that get in the way of keeping a tenancy and building a settled life, and to step back where help is not needed. In practice that can mean support to manage bills, benefits and appointments, help to keep a flat running, prompting with medication, or somebody reliable to talk to when a week is going badly. Many of the people we support have been through hospital admissions, homelessness or long periods of instability, so we do not expect progress to be quick or straight. What we can offer is consistency: staff who do not change every few weeks, expectations that are realistic, and support that increases when things are difficult and eases off again as somebody recovers. We work alongside community mental health teams and other services, because gaps between teams are exactly where people tend to fall. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are a professional considering a referral, or you are looking for support yourself, please get in touch.
