About Heywood Carers
Heywood Carers provides care at home to older people in Cranleigh and the surrounding part of Surrey. Our work is deliberately focused. We support older people who want to carry on living in their own houses and need help to do it, and we would rather do that one thing properly than spread ourselves thinly. Visits cover personal care given without rushing, support and prompting with medication, preparing meals, help with laundry, shopping and keeping the house in order, and getting out to appointments or simply out for a change of scene. For some people the most useful part of a visit is the company and the fact that somebody has looked in. Two things matter above all in this work. The first is sending the same carers to the same people, because being met by a familiar face is worth a great deal and it is the familiar carer who notices when something has changed. The second is allowing enough time to do the job properly, since care delivered against a stopwatch is not really care and hurrying an older person is neither dignified nor safe. We agree what is needed with the person and with family where the person wants them involved, and we revisit it honestly as things change. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch.
