About Better at Home - Main Office
Better at Home is a home care agency in Yarm, supporting people in their own homes across Stockton on Tees and the surrounding area. We work with older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia and people with a physical disability. The reason we exist is in the name. For most of the people we meet, home is where they want to stay, and our job is to make that workable for as long as it is safe and genuinely the better option. In practice that means help to get up, washed and dressed in a way that leaves a person feeling like themselves, medication managed and recorded properly, meals actually cooked, help moving safely about a house that may no longer suit its owner, and a reliable human presence in a week that could otherwise hold very little. We are stubborn about sending the same carers to the same people. That continuity is not decoration. A carer who knows somebody notices the untouched food, the new bruise, the change in mood or the pile of unopened post. A stranger notices nothing. For people living with dementia, familiarity and an unhurried pace work better than explanation. For people with a physical disability, we take the time to learn how that individual wants to be helped to move. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. Call us and we will be plain about what we can and cannot do.
