ES Homecare supports people in their own homes in Newcastle under Lyme and the surrounding parts of Staffordshire. We visit older people and younger adults, people living with dementia and people whose physical disabilities make daily life harder to manage alone. What we do is shaped around the household rather than around our schedule. For some people it is one call each morning, help to wash and dress, breakfast made and medication taken on time. For others it is several visits a day, or a longer visit so that a family carer can go to work or simply get out of the house for a while. For others still it is help with shopping, laundry and appointments, and the company of somebody who turns up regularly and notices how things are. We plan our rounds so that the same carers visit the same homes. It matters both practically, because a familiar carer knows where things are kept and what normal looks like, and personally, because nobody wants a stream of strangers in their kitchen. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating, and we would rather tell you that than leave it unsaid. We are happy to go through how we recruit, train and supervise our staff, how we handle medication and what happens if something goes wrong.
