About Stepping Stones to Independence

We provide support in people's own homes and communities in and around Bristol. Our starting point is that support should make somebody's own life possible rather than take it over, and our name reflects what a good deal of our work aims at. We support older people needing help with personal care, meals and medication, people living with dementia, adults who have a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental health conditions, people with a physical disability and people whose sight or hearing is impaired. In practice that ranges from short daily calls to substantial support with running a home, getting out, keeping appointments and staying connected to family and community. For many of the people we work with, the aim is greater independence over time, so we plan with that in view and review arrangements openly rather than letting a package settle into something nobody has questioned for years. We involve people fully in deciding who supports them and how, and we would far rather be told plainly that something is not working than find out months later. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking at support at home in this area, please get in touch.
