We work with older people, adults living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults living independently. Every arrangement we make starts with a visit and a proper conversation in the person's own home. We want to understand what the day looks like now, where it is going wrong and what would make the biggest difference. Some people need one call each morning to get washed, dressed and properly fed. Others need several visits covering medication, meals, personal care and company, and some need support to get out and keep up with the things they enjoy. We plan rounds so that people see familiar carers rather than a stream of strangers, and we introduce anyone new properly. Carers complete their training before working unsupervised and are supported by senior staff who carry out supervision, spot checks and reviews. When needs change we say so and adjust the plan, and if we believe a different kind of support would suit someone better we will tell you even though it may not suit us.
