About Council Home Care Service
We provide home care on behalf of South Gloucestershire Council, supporting people in their own homes across Bristol and the surrounding part of the county. We work with older people and younger adults, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability or autism, people managing mental health conditions or an eating disorder, people with a physical disability or with sight or hearing loss, and people dealing with alcohol or drug misuse. Our purpose is to help people remain at home safely and to keep as much control over their own lives as possible. We assess with the person rather than about them, agree what help would make the real difference, and write it down in language that makes sense to the household. Support can include personal care, prompting and help with medication, preparing meals and drinks, help with moving about safely, and practical tasks around the home, as well as support to get out to appointments and activities. Where somebody is regaining independence after illness or a hospital stay, we aim to reduce our involvement as their confidence returns. Our carers are trained for the needs they support and supervised properly, and we work closely with health colleagues, social workers and families. If you would like to discuss support at home, please contact us and we will talk it through.
