About Cherish Able Care

Cherish Able Care provides support in people's own homes across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people managing mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people living with sight or hearing loss, and younger adults. Our first meeting is a conversation rather than an assessment. What has actually become difficult? What do you still manage well and would rather we left alone? What would make the biggest difference to this week? The rota comes after those answers, because a plan written the other way round describes a type of person instead of a real one. The work covers personal care, medication, meals, mobility, household jobs, shopping, appointments and proper company. For some of the people we support it looks quite different: somebody alongside them at college, at work, at a group or on the bus. Consistency does more good here than almost anything else. We keep the same small team around each person, we give notice before things change, and we hold to what we agreed even when a rota would rather we did not. For autistic people in particular, knowing what is coming is a large part of what makes support workable. The Care Quality Commission rated us good at our most recent inspection, and we keep asking the people we support whether we are doing what we said.
