That means asking not only what help is needed but what somebody would rather keep doing for themselves, and it means adapting how we communicate so that the conversation is genuinely with them. Where a family is closely involved, we keep them informed without talking over the person in the middle. Support can be a short daily call or a full package across the day, and it can rise or fall as circumstances change. We review regularly rather than assuming.
