About Transforming Support ()
Transforming Support in Birmingham provides care and support in people's own homes, working with adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, adults with mental health needs, adults with a physical disability, people with sight or hearing loss, older people and younger adults. Much of our work is about making an ordinary life possible. That means support with personal care and medication where it is needed, but just as often it means a hand with cooking, budgeting, shopping and appointments, or somebody alongside for a bus journey, a college course, a shift at work or a visit to family. We take the time to learn how each person communicates what they want, including those who use few or no words, so that decisions genuinely belong to them rather than to us. For people living with mental health needs, consistency is what helps. We get to know how someone is when they are well, which is what allows us to notice early when they are not, and we work with them and the professionals involved so that support can increase quickly and step back when it is no longer needed. We agree what support should look like with the person and the people who matter to them, we put it in writing, and we review it honestly rather than defending a plan that is not working. The Care Quality Commission has not yet published an overall rating for us. In the meantime, please ask us anything you like and speak to the people we already support.
