About Steps to Independence
Steps to Independence provides care and support to people in their own homes in Birmingham, Solihull and the surrounding area. The name says what we are for: helping people run their own lives, with support arranged around what they actually want. We support a wide range of people. Older people who need help with daily routines. People living with dementia, visited by a small and familiar team. Adults with learning disabilities and autism, and younger adults who want help fitted around work, study or family rather than in place of it. People living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people living with sight or hearing loss. We also support people affected by eating disorders, where mealtimes need patience, discretion and a plan the person has agreed to, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs, which we approach without judgement. Support might be personal care or medication, a hand with cooking, cleaning, shopping or money, or going along to something new until somebody feels able to go alone. Where our involvement can reduce over time, we count that as the job going well rather than as lost work. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking into support for yourself or someone close to you, please contact us and we will talk it through honestly.
