About Care of Excellence

Care of Excellence provides care and support to people in their own homes in Ludlow and the surrounding part of Shropshire. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities, sensory loss and eating disorders. We begin with a visit at home. What we want to understand is how the household runs, who is already helping, what the person manages perfectly well without us and where help would make a real difference. The plan comes out of that conversation and belongs to the person to change. Support may be a single daily call for personal care and medication, several visits covering meals, housework, shopping and company, or longer stretches for somebody who should not be alone. In a rural area, rounds have to be planned so carers are not racing between villages and visits have to be long enough to be worth having, and we keep our patch tight so those are realistic. Across such a range of needs, training is practical rather than nominal, and our carers have the knowledge for the people they visit before they go out. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
