About Parkside
Parkside provides support to people living in their own homes across Reading. We work with older adults, younger adults, people with learning disabilities and autistic people, and people managing mental health conditions. A good deal of our work is with younger adults, and that changes the shape of it considerably. Support for somebody in their twenties or thirties is rarely about managing decline. It is about getting to work or college, keeping a flat running, managing money and appointments, seeing friends, and handling the parts of daily life that are genuinely difficult. We do those parts and leave the rest alone, even when doing it ourselves would be quicker. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition, consistency and the absence of judgement matter more than any particular technique. We turn up when we said we would, and we stay involved when things are difficult rather than only when they are going well. For older people we provide the more familiar pattern of help with washing and dressing, medication, meals and keeping a household going, arranged at the times that actually suit. We match staff to people with care, because the relationship is where the value lies. Please get in touch to talk about support in Reading.
