We are Laurel Leaf Support, based in Witney and supporting people in their own homes across Oxfordshire. Our most recent CQC overall rating is outstanding. We would rather be judged on whether the people we support are living the lives they want, but we are glad the work has been recognised. We support older people, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults who want to live independently with the right help in place. Much of our work is about enabling rather than doing. Where somebody wants to cook for themselves, manage their own money, use public transport or hold down a job or a course, we work at it with them patiently and we do not decide in advance what is beyond them. Where practical help is needed with personal care, medication, meals or the running of a household, we provide it without making a person feel it has been taken over. We take real care over who supports whom, and we keep those arrangements stable, because this work depends on trust more than on procedure. Our staff are trained for the individuals they support rather than in the abstract. We work closely with families, social workers and health professionals.
