About Reable Health
We are Reable Health, a home care agency based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. We support older people and younger adults in their own homes, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, and people with a physical disability or a sensory impairment. A good deal of our work is about helping somebody get back to doing things for themselves, often after an illness, a fall or a spell in hospital that has knocked confidence as much as ability. The aim in those cases is not to do things for people but to make it possible for them to do things again, which means doing less where doing less is what actually helps. It also means being honest. Sometimes independence does not come back the way somebody hoped, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. Where ongoing support is what is needed, we say so and arrange it properly. Throughout, we keep the same workers with the same people as far as we can, and we work alongside therapists, GPs and community teams.
