We are Yorhealth Complex Care, working across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, and we provide support in people's own homes. Our work is with adults and younger adults whose needs are complex enough that standard home care packages rarely fit them: people with physical disabilities, people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and people living with sight or hearing loss. Complex care done properly is mostly about competence and consistency. The people we support often rely on equipment, on precise routines, and on staff who know exactly how things are done in that household. A new face who has not been trained on the detail is not a help, so we invest in training our teams for the specific person rather than in general terms, and we keep those teams small and steady. Support is planned with the person and with whoever they want involved, which may include family, therapists and commissioners. It might cover personal care, moving and handling, medication, help at night, or support to get out to college, work and the places somebody actually wants to be. Where a person can direct their own support, they do, and our job is to follow their lead rather than take charge. We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission.
