DICE Healthcare supports people in their own homes in Mansfield and the surrounding part of Nottinghamshire. We work with older people and with younger adults, and our experience covers dementia, learning disabilities and autism, physical disabilities, and sight and hearing loss. Everything begins with a visit at home. We want to know how the household runs, who is already helping, what the person manages perfectly well without us and where help would make a real difference. The plan comes out of that conversation and belongs to the person to change rather than to us to impose. Support may be a single daily call for personal care and medication, several visits covering meals, housework, shopping and company, or longer stretches for somebody who should not be alone for long. Across the range of needs we meet, training is practical rather than nominal, and our carers have the knowledge for the people they visit before they go out to them. Continuity is what families notice most, so we keep rounds tight and local, send the same carers wherever the rota allows, and say in advance when a new face is coming. Where somebody communicates in their own way we learn it and write it down so the whole team responds alike. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
