About Mindset Social Care

Mindset Social Care provides support to people in their own homes across Nottingham. We work with adults who have a learning disability, with autistic adults, with people living with dementia, with people managing mental health conditions, with people who have a physical disability and with younger adults. What we offer is support rather than supervision. The people we work with are adults with their own views about how they want to live, and our job is to make that possible rather than to decide it for them. So we begin by asking what somebody wants to be able to do, agree what help would make that realistic, and put the arrangement in plain language. In practice, support may include personal care, prompting and help with medication, cooking, shopping, laundry and keeping the home in order, managing money and paperwork, and getting out to work, college, appointments and activities. For many people a large part of it is having somebody steady alongside them while confidence is built. Support is reviewed honestly rather than left unchanged, and where somebody becomes more independent we step back.
