DE Connexions is a home care agency supporting people across Nottingham and the wider county in their own homes. Our work covers a broad range of needs. We visit older people who need help to start and end the day, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing mental ill health, people with a physical disability, and people with sight or hearing loss. We also support adults living with an eating disorder and adults whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug use, and we work with younger adults as well as older ones. Supporting people with needs of that kind takes staff who do not flinch and do not judge. Our carers are trained for the work they are asked to do, they are supervised, and they know when to raise something rather than press on. We work alongside community teams, GPs and social workers so that what happens in someone's front room joins up with the rest of their support. Everything starts with a visit and a proper conversation. The person tells us what they want help with, what they would rather do themselves, and what a good day looks like, and the plan follows from that. It gets reviewed as things change, and it can be changed sooner if it is not working. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would encourage anyone considering us to ask direct questions about training, recruitment and supervision, and we will answer them plainly.
