We provide support at home in and around Nottingham, working with younger adults, people living with mental health conditions and people with physical disabilities. Our work is about making it possible for people to live in their own homes and run their own lives as far as they are able to. For somebody whose mobility is affected, that can mean careful help with moving about safely, personal care, meals and the practical business of keeping a household going. For a younger adult it is often as much about getting out: to work, to college, to see people, to do whatever they want to do with their week. Where somebody's mental health is unsettled, what helps most is usually a worker who is steady, turns up when they said they would and knows the person well enough to notice when things are slipping. What we try hardest to avoid is taking over. Support should leave as much as possible in the hands of the person receiving it, which means asking rather than assuming and agreeing what we do rather than arriving with a plan already written. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, because trust is slow to build and quickly undone. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly.
