Support is planned around what each person wants to be able to do rather than around risk alone. Where somebody needs a great deal of help, we still look for the parts they can take on, because independence slips away quietly unless it is actively protected. We keep asking whether we are doing more than is wanted, which is an easy habit to fall into. We learn how each person communicates, including those who use little or no speech, and we adapt to them. Predictability, noise and sensory needs all affect how a day goes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding.
