About Reach Learning Disability Care C.I.C

Reach Learning Disability Care supports adults in their own homes in Newark and the surrounding part of Nottinghamshire. We work with younger adults, adults with learning disabilities and autism, people with physical disabilities and people who have sight or hearing loss. Our work rests on a simple principle. It is the person's home and the person's life, and our role is to provide whatever support makes that workable while leaving as much as possible in their hands. In practice that means help with personal care and medicines where it is needed, and a good deal of time spent on the skills and routines living independently asks for: cooking, shopping, managing money, keeping on top of letters and appointments, using transport, and coping with the things that go wrong in any household. It also means support to have an actual life. Seeing family and friends, getting to work, college, groups or activities, and making the everyday decisions other adults take for granted. Where somebody communicates in their own way, we learn how they do it. Where the day needs to be predictable, we keep it predictable and prepare properly for changes. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is outstanding. We are proud of it, and conscious that it describes a moment rather than a permanent condition, so we keep asking the people we support and the families who know them best whether we are still getting it right.
