About Nottingham DCA
We provide support at home for people in Mansfield and across Nottinghamshire. We work with older people, younger adults and people who have a learning disability or autism, supporting them in their own homes and out in their own communities. Our purpose is to make ordinary life workable rather than to run anybody's life for them. For some people that means help with personal care and daily routines. For others it means doing a weekly shop and cooking properly instead of relying on ready meals, keeping on top of bills and appointments, getting to a job or a course, or carrying on with something they have always done. We are careful about the line between supporting a person and taking over, because that line is easily crossed by staff who are in a hurry to be helpful. We pay close attention to how people communicate, which is not always through words, and we take the time needed to get it right rather than assuming. Plans are written with the person, reviewed honestly and changed when they stop fitting. We also work alongside families and with social work and health colleagues, since joined up support is what tends to last. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we are glad to be asked about our training, our staffing and how we handle concerns. If you would like to talk about support for yourself or someone in your family, we are happy to meet and explain how we work.
