Havilah Discovery Care provides support at home to people in Gillingham and across Medway. We work with older people who want to carry on living independently, with people who have physical disabilities and with younger adults who need help to manage daily life. What we do is shaped by the person rather than by a standard package. For some people it is a call each morning to help with washing, dressing and medication so the day begins safely. For others it is support at several points, with meals, mobility, the housework and shopping, or help to get out to appointments, to work and to see people. For younger adults the emphasis is often less on personal care and more on the practical business of running a home and a life. We visit before anything starts, agree the plan with the person and anyone they want involved, write it in plain language and review it as things change. We also say plainly when we think somebody needs more support than can safely be given at home. Reliability is what people judge home care on, so we keep the same carers going to the same households, turn up when we said we would and ring if we are delayed.
