About Adults Supporting Adults (ASA Shared Lives)
We are Adults Supporting Adults, based in Sleaford and working across Lincolnshire. Through Shared Lives and support in people's own homes, we help adults live well in ordinary family and community settings rather than in institutional ones. Shared Lives works differently from most care. Approved carers share their own home and family life with someone who needs support, either long term, for short breaks or through daytime arrangements. It suits many people far better than a placement in a larger setting, and the matching process is where most of the work goes. We take time over it, because a good match depends on shared interests, temperament and household rhythm as much as on the support somebody needs. We support older people, younger adults, people living with dementia or mental health conditions, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people affected by sight or hearing loss and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Our carers are trained, supported and visited regularly, and we stay closely involved rather than arranging a match and stepping away. We work alongside families, social workers and health teams, and we are honest when we think an arrangement is not right. We do not currently hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission. If you are considering support for yourself or someone close to you, or thinking of becoming a carer, please get in touch.
