We are a home care agency in Lincoln, visiting people in their own homes across the city and the surrounding area. We support older adults and younger adults, and the shape of our help varies widely from one person to the next. For some, it is a single call in the morning to get the day started safely: help washing and dressing, breakfast, a reminder about tablets, a quick look round to check all is well. For others it is several visits a day. What does not vary is that we are in somebody else's home, as a guest, and we behave accordingly. We knock, we ask, we put things back where they live, and we do not rearrange a person's home to suit the way we would do it. Before we start we sit down with the person and agree what the support should cover and how they like things done. We write it down, we share it with the carers who will be calling, and we revisit it properly when things change rather than adding bits on. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating. We would rather say so than leave the question hanging. Families are welcome to ask us anything about how we recruit, train and check the people we send, and to meet them before any care begins.
