We are Dimensions in Lincolnshire, based in Lincoln, and we support people in their own homes and in their communities across the county. Much of our work is with adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, and we also support older people. Supported living means something particular to us. The home belongs to the person. The support fits around the life they want, not the other way round. And our aim is to help somebody do something rather than to do it for them, because skills that are used are skills that stay. In practice that might mean help with personal care and medication, or it might mean cooking, shopping, managing money and post, keeping on top of a tenancy, or getting out to work, college, appointments and the places somebody actually enjoys. For autistic people especially, predictability is a need rather than a preference, so we explain changes in advance, keep routines steady, keep the staff team consistent, and pay attention to noise, light and the other environmental details that decide whether a day goes well. We plan support with the person, in their own words, alongside families and professionals where the person wants them involved, and we review it as things change. We have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission, which we mention plainly rather than leaving you to look it up.
