About Melton Supported Living Service

Melton Supported Living provides support to people in their own homes in Melton Mowbray and the surrounding part of Leicestershire. We work with younger adults, including people with a learning disability, people who are autistic, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Supported living rests on a simple principle: the home belongs to the person and we are there by invitation. We help with the things that get in the way of independent living and leave alone the things that do not need us. That might be personal care and medication, cooking and shopping, managing bills and appointments, keeping a tenancy on track, or support to get out to work, college or family. Support is agreed with the person, written down plainly and reviewed as circumstances change. When somebody is going through a bad patch we can increase hours, and when they recover we reduce them again rather than assuming the change is permanent. Our staff learn how each person communicates, including those who do not use speech, and we treat distress as something with a cause rather than as behaviour to be contained.
