About Action Deafness
We provide care and support at home around Loughborough for Deaf people and people with hearing or sight loss, working with older people and younger adults. Our work exists because ordinary care often goes wrong for Deaf people in ways that are easy to overlook. A visit where nobody can communicate properly is not care, it is somebody being handled, and a person who cannot follow what is being said is shut out of decisions about their own life. So communication comes first with us. We support people in the way they are most comfortable with, we take the time that being understood actually requires, and we treat it as the foundation of the work rather than an extra. Around that we provide the practical help: assistance with washing and dressing, support with medication, a hand with meals, shopping and the house, and help getting to appointments, where being understood matters most of all. We keep staffing as consistent as we can, because somebody who knows a person well communicates with them far better than a stranger ever will, and because trust takes time. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. If you would like to know more about the support we offer, please get in touch.
