We are Voyage in Leicestershire, based in Hinckley, and we support people in their own homes across the county. Our work is about making ordinary life possible: getting up, getting out, keeping a home running, staying connected to the people and places that matter. Much of our support goes to adults with learning disabilities and autistic people, and a good deal of it is about consistency. Familiar staff who know how someone likes things done, changes explained in advance rather than sprung on people, and support that helps a person do something rather than doing it for them. We also support adults living with mental ill health, people with physical disabilities, older people and younger adults. Every arrangement starts with the person. We ask what a good week looks like, what already works well, where the difficulties genuinely lie, and what someone wants to be able to do that they cannot manage yet. The support plan comes out of that, and we change it when circumstances change, because they always do. In practice that might mean personal care, help with medication, cooking and shopping, support with money and paperwork, or going along to college, work, appointments or the pub. It might be a short call each day or a much fuller arrangement. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
