We are Polus Care, a home care agency supporting people in Hinckley and across the surrounding parts of Leicestershire. All of our work happens in people's own homes, arranged around routines that already exist, because home is where a person's belongings, habits and neighbours are and staying there is what most people want. We support people living with dementia, where a familiar face at the door and a predictable routine do more good than almost anything else, so we keep the team around each person small. We work with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, taking time to understand how somebody communicates and what helps them feel settled. We also support people living with mental ill health, and younger adults who want practical assistance that makes work, study, friendships and everyday plans possible. Every arrangement starts with a visit and a proper conversation about what would genuinely help and how often. We agree the detail, write it down plainly, and revisit it as things change rather than leaving a plan to go stale. Our care workers are encouraged to flag anything that seems different, because somebody who visits regularly notices a change in appetite, mood or steadiness long before it becomes a crisis.
