Our work is to give people enough support to carry on living where they want to live. We visit older people and younger adults. Support may cover help with washing and dressing, prompting or giving medication, preparing meals, shopping, laundry and keeping the house in order. For a great many of the people we visit it also means a familiar face at a predictable time and someone who notices how they are getting on. We support people living with dementia, and continuity is at the heart of that work. We build our rounds so that the same carers see the same people wherever we can arrange it, because familiarity is the most effective thing anybody can offer in dementia care. We also work with people who have physical disabilities, taking care that help is safe for everybody involved and that it supports independence rather than replacing it. Before care begins we visit, talk and assess properly. The plan belongs to the person and to their family if they want family involved, and we change it as needs change rather than leaving it to drift.
