About Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity - Kentown Team
We are a charity team based in Lancaster, providing support at home to families who have a child with a serious illness. What families in this position need is rarely what a standard care package offers. Much of what we do is practical and quiet: being in the house so that a parent can sleep, sit down or go to an appointment, spending time with brothers and sisters who often get very little attention while everyone is focused on the child who is ill, helping with the ordinary business of a household that has been turned upside down, and being somebody steady to talk to. We arrange that around each family rather than around a timetable, because no two situations are alike and what helps changes from week to week. We ask what would actually make a difference and then try to provide it, and we keep the same worker with the same family wherever we can, since this work depends entirely on trust and on knowing people properly. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and have senior colleagues they can reach. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are glad to discuss that openly. If your family might benefit from support of this kind, please get in touch.
