We do this work because home is worth holding on to. The familiar layout, the usual routine, the freedom to please yourself about when to get up and what to have for tea: these are not small comforts, and with the right support most people can keep them for far longer than they expect to. Support is agreed with the person before it begins. We ask how the day runs now, what has become difficult, what somebody still wants to manage without help, and we build the visits from the answers rather than from a template. That might mean help with washing and dressing, a prompt and a check with medication, a meal cooked and shared, help moving safely about the house, or a hand with shopping and appointments. We work hard to keep the same carers going to the same households. Care is easier to accept from somebody you recognise, and a familiar carer is the one who notices early that something has shifted. We are a newer registration and have not yet had an overall rating published by the Care Quality Commission. We would rather say so ourselves, and we are glad to be asked how we recruit and train our staff.
