Has 2 be Happy Care supports people in their own homes in Lancaster and the surrounding area. We work with people living with dementia, with adults who have a learning disability and with autistic adults, with people who have mental health needs, physical disabilities or a visual or hearing impairment, and with younger adults. Our visits are planned around the person and not around a standard package. Some people want help with washing, dressing, medication and meals. Others want support to keep a home running, to get out to appointments, work or college, or to manage the things that have become difficult. Quite often what matters most is having somebody familiar who has the time to sit down and talk properly. We put a great deal of effort into matching carers to people and then keeping that arrangement steady. Familiarity is what allows a carer to notice that somebody is quieter than usual, eating less or less steady on their feet, and to raise it before it becomes serious. It also makes the support feel like a relationship rather than a transaction. Plans are agreed with the person and anyone they want involved, written in plain words and reviewed as things change. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were glad of it and we know it has to be earned again in every visit we make.
