About Caremark, Tonbridge and Malling
We are Caremark covering Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Malling, supporting people in their own homes across this part of Kent. We support older people and people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, people managing a mental health condition, people with a physical disability or a visual or hearing impairment, and younger adults building independent lives. Everything starts with a visit rather than a price list. We talk with the person, and with family if they want to be involved, about what has become difficult and what kind of help would actually fit their day. The plan comes out of that conversation and gets revised as things change instead of sitting untouched until a review is due. What we provide varies a great deal. It may be a morning call to get somebody washed, dressed and fed. It may be several visits covering personal care, medication, meals and the running of a household. For some people the most valuable part of the visit is simply that somebody reliable comes through the door, and we treat that as part of the job. We work at continuity, train carers for the specific work they are sent to do, and keep the office reachable so families are not left chasing. Our most recent CQC overall rating is good. Please ring us to talk things over.

What the inspectors found
A plain English summary of the Care Quality Commission inspection behind the current rating of Caremark Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Malling. Report published 13 August 2026.
- 11 May to 22 May 2026, assessment under CQC's new approach
Safe
Inspectors found people were not always protected from avoidable harm. Risk management, communication and care planning systems were not consistently reliable. People and relatives described missed or delayed visits, poor continuity of staff and concerns about medicines. Some staff showed good risk awareness and acted promptly on health concerns.
Effective
Care was not always effective because assessments, risk assessments and care plans were not consistently detailed, current or person-centred. Staff generally said they had induction, mandatory training and support from managers. Differences in staff experience and in the information available to them meant people did not always get consistent care.
Caring
Inspectors found clear strengths in the caring culture. People often described individual care workers as kind, respectful and compassionate. These strengths were sometimes undermined by inconsistent service, especially when people were supported by unfamiliar staff.
Responsive
The service was not always responsive. People and relatives did not always feel listened to when they raised concerns, and did not always get clear information about their care. Reviews and future planning were not consistently completed.
Well-led
Leadership was visible and clearly intended to improve things. There had been a new management team since the last inspection, and leaders had acted through recruitment, reviews, training, audits and more oversight. However, these changes were recent and not yet embedded. Governance systems were not yet robust enough to consistently assure the quality and safety of the service.
What people told the inspectors
People's experiences were mixed. Some people and relatives spoke well of individual care workers. Others raised concerns about delayed or missed calls, frequent changes in staff, and the office not always responding to concerns or keeping them informed.
