About Direct Care

Direct Care Kent provides support at home to adults in Snodland and the surrounding part of the county. We visit older people who need help to carry on living in their own houses, adults living with dementia, people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with a visual or hearing impairment. Our visits cover personal care given without rushing, prompting and support with medication, preparing meals, help with laundry, shopping and keeping the home in order, and getting out to appointments or simply out for some air and company. Two things matter above all in this work. The first is sending the same carers to the same people, because being met by a familiar face is worth a great deal and is close to essential for somebody living with dementia. It is also the familiar carer who notices when a person is not themselves this week, and that noticing is often what keeps them out of hospital. The second is allowing enough time to do the job properly, since care given against a stopwatch is not really care. For people with sight or hearing loss we adapt how we announce ourselves and explain what we are doing. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch.
