We want people to keep the life they already have, with help attached to the parts that have become difficult, rather than have to give the whole thing up. Most of the people we visit are older, and we support them with getting up and getting dressed, washing, meals, medication, keeping the house in order and getting out. We also work with adults who have a physical disability, and with younger adults who need practical support that fits around work, college, family and the plans they have made for themselves. What people tell us matters most is reliability. Being there at the time we agreed, so that somebody is not sitting waiting. Sending carers who know the household and know how the person likes things done. Speaking up when we notice a change rather than assuming a relative already knows. We keep our rounds as consistent as we can for exactly that reason. We visit before any support starts, we agree the plan with the person and anyone they want present, and we review it as things change. The Care Quality Commission has not yet given us an overall rating, so we would encourage anyone considering us to ask searching questions about training, recruitment, timekeeping and out of hours contact. We are happy to answer all of them.
