About Austen Allen Homecare - East
We provide care at home across east Kent from our base in Margate, supporting older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, people with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities and people with visual or hearing impairments. Most of the people who contact us are trying to stay put rather than make a move they do not want, and our job is to make that workable. That might be one call in the morning to help somebody wash, dress and take their medication, or visits spread through the day with help at mealtimes, or support getting out to the shops and to appointments. Where somebody lives alone and sees very few people in a week, the visit itself is part of what helps. We would rather be straight about what we can cover than take on more than we can keep to. Where we do commit, we try to send the same carers consistently, because a carer who has visited for months sees the small changes that signal somebody is becoming unwell or low in spirits. Our staff are trained for the needs they are asked to meet and can reach senior colleagues for advice. We do not yet hold an overall rating from the Care Quality Commission and are happy to discuss that openly.
