We ask what a person actually wants rather than offering a package for them to fit into. We support people living with dementia, where the most useful thing we can offer is a familiar person who is not hurrying and who knows how this individual likes things done. We also support people living with mental health conditions, where a steady relationship, a routine that can be relied upon and staff who notice when things are shifting matter more than anything else. We keep the group of workers visiting each person as small as we can, because familiarity is what allows people to relax in their own home.
