- Inspectors visited on 26 April 2022 as part of a routine inspection.
- First assessment of the service
Safe
CQC rated this key question Requires improvement. People were not fully safeguarded from the risk of abuse. On two occasions the registered manager had not discussed incidents with the local safeguarding authority, and acted on this straight after the inspection. Guidance on what to do if a risk occurred was not consistently recorded, although staff did know what action to take. Medicines were managed safely, staff followed infection control practices, and there were enough staff.
Effective
Staff received the training they needed. People consented to their care. When people were unwell or needed extra support, they were referred to health care professionals and other agencies. Staff understood the importance of good nutrition.
Caring
People said they were treated kindly and compassionately by staff. People received person-centred care that promoted their dignity and independence.
Responsive
People's needs were assessed and reviewed, and care plans were specific and personalised. People were supported to do things they wanted to do. Complaints were managed in the right way, and people were invited to suggest improvements.
Well-led
People told inspectors the service was well managed. There were adequate quality assurance measures in place. The registered manager visited people and made calls to check they were happy, and regularly worked alongside the staff team.
What people told the inspectors
People and their relatives gave positive feedback and said the registered manager was approachable and sorted out any issues. They said staff arrived when they should, stayed the allotted time and they had not had any missed calls.
