We are a home care agency based in Aylesford, Kent, visiting people in their own homes across the surrounding towns and villages. Our purpose is simple enough to state. We want the people we visit to carry on living where they are, for as long as that is safe and as long as they wish it. We support older adults, and we also support younger adults. A good deal of our work is with people who have a physical disability, and with people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing. Those needs make a house behave differently, and a care worker who does not take that in will be clumsy in somebody's home. So we spend time on the detail. Where things are kept, which way a person prefers to be approached, how to announce yourself at the door when somebody cannot hear the bell. Visits can be brief and regular or long and occasional. We can help with washing and dressing, medicines, meals, shopping and getting out of the house, and we can give a family carer a few hours off. We will also say plainly when the support needed has outgrown what is safe to deliver at home. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
