About Care Herts
Care Herts supports people in their own homes in Welwyn Garden City and across Hertfordshire. We work with older people and younger adults, with people living with dementia, with people who have physical disabilities, and with adults who have a learning disability or are autistic. Most people contact us because daily life has become harder to manage and they would much rather stay where they are. What makes that possible is different in every household. It can be a short call first thing for washing, dressing and breakfast, several visits across the day, support with medication, help getting out to appointments, or a longer visit so a family carer gets a genuine break. We meet the person before anything starts, agree what will actually help rather than what is easiest to arrange, and put it in plain writing. When needs change, the plan changes with them. Where somebody communicates differently, whether because of dementia, a learning disability or autism, we take the trouble to learn how before we begin. That is usually the difference between support that works and support that frustrates everybody involved. We keep the same carers going to the same homes wherever we can, because being helped with private things is easier with a face you know.
