About 153 The Parade
153 The Parade supports adults in their own homes and tenancies in Watford and across Hertfordshire. We work with autistic adults and adults with a learning disability, people managing mental ill health and younger adults. Supported living only works if the home genuinely belongs to the person. The tenancy is theirs and our job is to provide the support that makes living there realistic, not to run the place around them. So we start from what somebody wants their life to contain. A job, a course, a relationship, time with family, a routine they set themselves, a week that is not decided by other people. From there we work out the practical support: cooking, cleaning, budgeting, appointments and paperwork, managing medication safely, somebody alongside in situations that would otherwise be too much, and help to travel and get out. We write it in a form the person can actually use and change it as they move on. Consistency matters more than anything clever, so we keep teams familiar, give plenty of notice about changes and communicate in whatever way genuinely reaches each person. Where somebody's mental health is fragile we watch for early signs and involve their GP and the community team promptly. Our most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. We work closely with families, social workers and health colleagues, and referrals are welcome.
