Options Health Care is a home care agency in Stevenage, supporting people in their own homes across Hertfordshire. We work with older people, people living with dementia, adults with a learning disability, autistic adults, people living with mental ill health, people with a physical disability and younger adults. Home care should fit around a life that already exists. We begin by asking how the day usually runs, what has become difficult and what somebody can still do perfectly well and would rather keep doing. People are often very specific about that, and getting it right at the start is what makes support feel like help rather than interference. Our visits cover personal care, support with medication, meals, help around the house and getting out to appointments. For younger adults and for people with a learning disability, the work is often less about personal care and more about keeping an ordinary week on track. Continuity is where we put our effort. A familiar carer who knows the house, the routine and the person is worth more than any amount of paperwork. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement.
